Field measurement of stud locations behind the sideboard wall, shop fabrication of three full 2-inch walnut shelves grain-matched from the same board, and installation over a concealed steel spine anchored to framing, finished in place.

Solid 2-inch stock resawn from the same board for grain continuity, bored to receive a steel spine
Steel spine anchored into stud locations confirmed during field verification; shelf load capacity depends on that blocking, not on the wall surface alone.
What the detail solved
The homeowner wanted shelves that would hold ceramics and books without visible brackets.
Shelves were sequence-cut from one board so the grain pattern reads continuously across the stacked run.
