Finish Carpentry & Interior Trim

Finish carpentry is the last layer of a room and the one people stand next to. It covers interior trim, casing and base, door hanging and adjustment, stair and railing trim, closet interiors, and the site-fit work that makes new millwork sit against an existing house without a gap line. We measure the room as it is, fabricate or pre-fit in the shop, and cut to the real conditions on site.

Design considerations

Rooms in a finished house are rarely square, so reveals and panel widths are adjusted on site rather than cut to a drawing alone.
Matching an existing profile depends on the age and condition of what's there, and what's offered is a documented best-effort match.
Paint-grade and stain-grade material are different budgets and different prep, and that decision is made during material selection.
Sequencing matters. Trim goes in against paint-ready walls, and flooring transitions are confirmed before base is set.

Installation requirements

Walls and ceilings should be at their final paint-ready state before installation begins.
Flooring should be installed, or its finished height confirmed, before base and casing are cut.
Existing trim to be matched is field measured and profiled before new material is ordered.
